Getting Started

Step 1: Apply for admission to Boise State University

  • Go to the Admissions Office website and apply!
  • There is a $50.00 application fee for the university application.
  • Please submit to the Admissions Office official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. Failure to submit all transcripts in a timely manner will delay the processing of your advising review.
  • It takes 2-3 weeks to process your application to the University.
  • Once an admission decision has been reached, the Admissions Office will notify you of your status via email.
  • If you have questions about your application, please contact the Admissions Office.

Step 2: Notify the DAP office once you have been admitted to Boise State University

  • Include your student ID number and use your BronocMail account when emailing the department.
  • Email Advising Coordinator Coleen Dudley (cdudley@boisestate.edu) to notify the department that you have been admitted to the University and would like to apply to the RRT to BS Degree Advancement Program.

Step 3: Transcript Evaluation

  • The Office of the Registrar will evaluate and post academic transfer credit to your student record.
  • This process takes 1-2 weeks.
  • When your transcripts have been reviewed, the Registrar’s Office will notify you via your BroncoMail address.

Step 4 :Departmental Advising Review

  •  If you are admitted to the program, the review will explain the next steps to take.
  •  If the faculty advisors have determined that you will need to take general education/core courses (referred to as University Foundation courses) in addition to the 11 classes in the program, you will be asked to complete those classes prior to beginning the program.
  • If you are denied admission to the program, the review will provide an explanation for that decision.
  • This process may take 1-3 weeks depending upon completion of information submitted and number of applications being processed.
  • All communication will be sent via your BroncoMail address.

Program Eligibility

To be eligible for our RRT to BS Degree Advancement Program a student must have one of the following:

1. Associate of Science Degree

  • Earned an Associate of Science Degree in Respiratory Care from a regionally accredited institution
  • 64 semester credit hours, including respiratory care courses, from a regionally accredited institution
  • RRT credential (verified on the NBRC database)

Students who have met these requirements will be considered general education/core certified and will only need to complete the 30 credits (11 courses) of the program.

2. Associate of Applied Science or Associate of Health Science Degree

  • Earned an Associate of Applied Science or Associate of Health Science Degree in Respiratory Care from a regionally accredited institution
  • 35 semester credit hours from a regionally accredited institution
  • RRT credential (verified on the NBRC database)

Students who have met these requirements will also need to meet Boise State general education/core requirements (referred to as University Foundation requirements) before being admitted into the program.

The final decision for acceptance rests with the Respiratory Care department.

Other factors such as cumulative GPA, respiratory care GPA and course selection will be considered when determining acceptance into the Degree Advancement Program.

Candidates who graduated from an institution which is not regionally accredited are not eligible for the RRT to BS Degree Advancement Program at Boise State University. Please contact the department with any questions you may have.
