MRI Prerequisites

The applicant must be either a registered practitioner in good standing with their credentialing agency or a student completing the final semester of their practitioner training at the time of application. Added consideration will be given to the student who has completed the requirements for a Diagnostic Radiographer Degree from Boise State University or an equivalent program. In addition, the following are required:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above
  • Credentialed, clinical-based health care provider graduated from a regionally accredited institution and accepted for admission at Boise State (minimum of AS/AAS degree– RT(R), RRT, RN or equivalent)
  • Submit program application by March 1 to include $20 application fee, three closed letters of reference, copies of transcripts, and resume
  • Completion of the general prerequisite course work or equivalent:
    • ENGL 101-102 Introduction to College Writing and Research 6 credits
    • MATH 143 College Algebra 3 credits
    • MATH 254 Applied Statistics with Computers 3 credits
    • PSYC 101, Psychology or SOC 101, Intro to Sociology, 3 credits
    • BIOL 227-228 Anatomy & Physiology 8 credits
    • HLTHST 101 Medical Terminology 3 credits
    • CHEM 101 & 101L Essentials of Chemistry I with Lab 4 credits
    • PHYS 101 Introduction to Physics or PHYS 106 Radiation Physics 3-4 credits
    • Computer competency demonstration (or successful completion of the COBE Computer Placement Exam for Word Processing, Spreadsheet, & Database sections) 0-3 credits
    • UF 100 and UF 200, 6 credits (may be taken during the summer prior to entering the program)
  • Attend personal interview, if invited

* Students unable to prove they have passed the professional registry (ie ARRT)by the first day of the Fall semester will be removed from the MRI program and all MRI courses in which they may be registered.
