Requirements for Transfer Students Applying to the Nursing Program

What are the requirements to transfer to the nursing program?

Admission to the nursing program is limited to 60 students each fall semester and 60 students each spring semester. Before submitting your application, the following courses must be transferred in or completed at Boise State.

The following math and science courses must be transferred in or completed at Boise State before applying to the nursing program.

GPA Requirement: Applicants must earn a grade of C (2.00) or better in each course AND must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 in these courses.

  • BIOL 227 Human Anatomy & Physiology and Lab
  • BIOL 228 Human Anatomy & Physiology and Lab
  • CHEM 101/101L Intro to Inorganic Chemistry and Lab
    or CHEM 111/111L General Chemistry and Lab
  • MATH 254 Applied Statistics*

The following courses must be transferred in or completed at Boise State before applying to the nursing program.

GPA Requirement: Applicants must earn a grade of C (2.00) or better in each of the following courses.

  • ENGL 101 Introduction to College Writing
  • ENGL 102 Intro to College Writing and Research
  • PSYC 101 General Psychology*

*If your statistics course is transferred from another school, it must have a MATH prefix.

The following courses may be completed or in progress when you apply to the nursing program.

GPA Requirement: A grade of C (2.00) is required in the following courses.

  • BIOL 205 Introductory Microbiology
  • HLTHST 300 Pathophysiology
  • SOC 101 (Introduction to Sociology) or 102 (Social Problems) or 230 (Introduction to Ethnic Studies)
  • HLTHST 207 Nutrition


Will my courses transfer?

Please  visit the Transfer Equivalency System (TES) web site to determine if the courses you have taken at another institution will transfer to Boise State and whether they will meet the pre-nursing requirements.

How do I apply to the nursing program?

  1. Apply to Boise State as a Transfer Student.
  2. Schedule an appointment or call (208) 426-1678 with the Pre-Nursing Advisor to confirm that you have met all course and GPA requirements needed to apply to the nursing program.
  3. Submit an application to the nursing program.
