BS-Nursing: Information for 2nd Degree Students

Thank you for your interest in pursuing a second bachelor’s degree at Boise State. To apply to the BS-Nursing program, please:

*As a second bachelor’s degree student, there are certain courses from your previous degree, that upon approval by the School of Nursing, can be placed on your Boise State unofficial transcript to meet pre-nursing requirements. Courses approved receive zero credits, a grade of Pass, and will not show on your official transcript or be calculated into your Boise State University grade point average.

Application Requirements

The following prerequisite courses and GPA requirements must be met to apply to the BS-Nursing program.  However, completing the application requirements does not guarantee admission since space is limited to 60 seats each application cycle.

Section 1: Prerequisite & GPA Requirements

Prior to applying to the BS-Nursing program, your combined GPA in the following courses must be a 3.00 or above, AND you must earn a grade of C (2.00) in each course. The combined GPA from these courses will be a primary factor used when evaluating your application. 
  • BIOL 227 Human Anatomy & Physiology and Lab
  • BIOL 228 Human Anatomy & Physiology and Lab
  • CHEM 101/101L Intro to Inorganic Chemistry and Lab
    or CHEM 111/111L General Chemistry and Lab
  • MATH 254 Applied Statistics


Section 2: Prerequisite & GPA Requirements

Prior to applying to the BS-Nursing program, you must complete the following courses with a grade of C (2.00) or better.
  • PSYC 101 General Psychology

Section 3: Prerequisite & GPA Requirements

The following courses may be in progress during the semester you apply to the BS-Nursing program but must be completed by the end of the semester in which you are applying with a grade of C (2.00) or better.
  • HLTHST 207 Nutrition
  • BIOL 205 Introductory Microbiology
  • HLTHST 300 Pathophysiology

Upon completion of the steps above, including verification with a Pre-Nursing Academic Advisor that you meet all course and GPA requirements, and upon admission to Boise State as a 2nd Degree seeking student, we invite you to complete the BS-Nursing application process.
