Senior Business Manager, College of Health Sciences
Rowland was born in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, raised on the sands at Venice Beach, California and attended Venice High School (aka Rydell High in the motion picture, “Grease”).
Rowland came to Boise in mid-July of 2002 after 17 years of service with UCLA. She was the policy and training manager for the UCLA Academic Personnel Office and also the assistant to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty Development/Diversity. Rowland spent her first seven years in the UCLA Payroll Office where she managed the payroll processing and check distribution for over 30,000 staff, faculty, and student employees each month.
Prior to coming to Boise State University, Rowland had the privilege of working at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. She was part of the team that took it from a simple hillside to 76 acres of a beautifully landscaped place of honor for Idaho Veterans and their spouses. She designed the Governor Kempthorne’s dedication day invitation as well as the dedication program that was distributed to the over 3,000 in attendance.
Rowland’s husband, Chris, is an elementary school teacher and alumni of Boise State University. The Rowlands met in Idaho (on the internet of all things!) and were married in the Capitol Rotunda in November of 2003. Between the two of them they have six adult children – three girls and three boys. Three of the six have families and live in Boise. Two are attending college. And lastly, one has devoted his career to the United Stated Air Force. He and his wife are currently based at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. The Rowlands also have six grandchildren, Benjamin, Daphne, Moby, Miles, Clara and Joey. The Rowlands like to camp and fish when they find a spare moment.
