Our curriculum was developed after an extensive collaboration involving a diverse group of faculty, administrators, athletic directors, and coaches. The goal was to provide an experience, regardless of a student’s area of interest, which is both academically rigorous and professionally relevant. The curriculum is practitioner-oriented and effectively blends classroom learning with real-world, hands-on experience in athletics. The Master of Athletic Leadership Program is unique in offering significant practical experience in leadership roles and settings along with relevant and meaningful coursework.
Participants in the program are both working professionals and professional learners. They are coaches, teachers, athletic trainers, sports marketers, sports information specialists, campus recreation professionals, developers and fundraisers, interscholastic athletic directors, and more. What the students all share is a desire to learn more about themselves and about leadership in athletics. They are passionate about athletics and about making a difference. And they are passionate about who they hope to become as leaders.
The purpose of the Master of Athletic Leadership program is to provide meaningful opportunities for people to grow and develop as leaders who build progressive, ethical, and inclusive sport organizations. And our vision is to build a community of learners and leaders who shape the world of athletics.
