Sue Ellis, MA

Administrative Assistant, Department of Kinesiology

Sue Ellis joined Kinesiology in October 2016. Before that, she was with Community and Environmental Health in the School of Allied Health Sciences and for many years with the Department of Marketing and Finance in the College of Business and Economics. In her time at Boise State, she has supported faculty activities and assisted hundreds of students. She has served on committees for the College of Business and Economics and the University and has held office in the Boise State University Association of Office Personnel.

While working for the Department of Marketing and Finance, Ellis earned a BA in Art (1993) and an MA in Technical Communication (2005) from Boise State.

She has used her art, writing, and computer skills to design, write, and edit a wide variety of documents. Ellis served as managing editor for Idaho’s Economy, a quarterly publication of the Boise State University College of Business and Economics, fall 1992 through spring 1995. While president of the Boise State University Association of Office Personnel (1985-86), Ellis served as writer, designer, and editor of the association’s monthly newsletter. One of her newsletters took first place in the Local Organization category at the National Association of Educational Office Personnel conference in 1986. From 1986 to 1987, Ellis served as editor of the The Idaho Gem, the quarterly news publication of the Idaho Association of Educational Office Personnel. The Idaho Gem earned first place honors at the 1987 conference of the National Association of Educational Personnel. Ellis also was a member of the Publications Committee of the National Association of Educational Office Personnel 1986-1988.

Over the years, Ellis has served on numerous college and university committees. She chaired an ad hoc committee of College of Business and Economics staff whose purpose was to provide input for the College’s strategic plan (2000). She also chaired a University Bookstore focus group in 1989. In spring 2005, Ellis was a member of the Search Committee to fill the position of University Associate Controller. She represented the College of Business and Economics as a member of Roadmap, a three-year project to reshape policies, practices, and governance of Boise State University’s enterprise systems (2011-2013).

Ellis was honored to be nominated for Outstanding Classified Employee of Boise State University in 1990 and 1994.

Personal interests include jewelry making and other crafts, reading, movies, and learning about other cultures.
