Mikal Black, MSN, RN, CTN-B

Mikal BlackMikal Black, MSN, RN, joined the Boise State University nursing faculty in 2002. She has a B.A. in English from Montana State University and a B.S. in Nursing from Boise State University. She received her Master’s Degree in Nursing from Gonzaga University and is currently in the doctoral program at University of Idaho. A lifelong teacher, she started her career in secondary education, teaching English and English as Second Language. Her experience of working with marginalized populations in education was continued as a nurse in rural health and currently still practices at a clinic for the uninsured. Since joining the faculty at Boise State University, she has taught throughout the nursing curriculum, and specializes in professional concepts, cultural diversity, behavioral health and international nursing. Mikal spends her free time traveling, where her career as a nurse educator has taken her to such destinations as China, Ecuador, Israel, Netherlands, and Italy, and her hobby of rodeo takes her and her family all over the western U.S.
